A regional conference on global health

On 14 and 15 June 2025, Tunis hosted the first regional One Health MENA conference, organized by Tunisia’s ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment with the support of the World Bank and international partners (WHO, FAO, UNEP and the World Organisation for Animal Health). The One Health approach starts from a simple observation: human health, animal health and the environment are closely linked, and many emerging human diseases originate in animals.

Ministers, experts and international agencies in Tunis

The conference brought together delegations from 17 countries across the Middle East and North Africa, including around forty senior officials and ten ministers, alongside representatives of the United Nations and international organizations. Plenary sessions and thematic panels focused on pandemic prevention, cross-sector coordination and regional cooperation, and led to the “Carthage Declaration for a One Health strategy”.

Evencia’s role

Evencia supported the on-site organization of this institutional event. A conference of this level requires rigorous preparation: welcoming official delegations, following protocol, keeping a tightly timed agenda, providing the technical set-up for plenaries and panels, and working hand in hand with the ministry teams and international partners. The video and photos below give an overview of the event.

For the organizers, the challenge was also to make a cross-sector approach tangible: bringing together ministries and agencies that rarely work side by side, in formats that leave room for discussion between delegations. The two-day agenda alternated plenary sessions, ministerial statements and technical panels, which called for precise timing and seamless transitions between speakers.

A reference for institutional events

This project reflects Evencia’s experience with high-level meetings involving public institutions and international donors, alongside other World Bank projects such as the launch ceremony of the Country Partnership Framework.
