A ministerial session at the heart of the Djerba Summit
On 18 and 19 November 2022, Djerba hosted the 43rd session of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie (CMF), held ahead of the 18th Francophonie Summit. The CMF brings together the foreign or Francophonie ministers of the member states and governments of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) and prepares the decisions submitted to heads of state and government.
A busy diplomatic agenda
Opened by Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, the session gathered more than twenty ministers and senior officials. It reviewed the draft “Djerba Declaration”, the OIF’s 2023-2030 strategic framework, membership applications, the organization’s budget and the place of the French language across the Francophone world.
Evencia’s role
Evencia contributed to the on-site organization of this multilateral meeting. A diplomatic event of this scale comes with specific requirements: welcoming delegations, strict protocol, security, fully equipped meeting rooms, coordination with the OIF and the national organizing committee, and logistics that adapt in real time to the official program.
This ministerial work paved the way for the Summit of Heads of State and Government, which brought the Francophonie Summit back to North Africa, on the island of Djerba. For the organizing teams, the ministerial session was also a full-scale test of the venues, flows and logistics that would be used during the Summit days.
